Bootstrapped

By self-funding the beginnings of Gamu Studios, we ensured that our creative direction remains uncompromised. This wasn’t just an investment in a business, it was an investment in redefining how digital artistry and entertainment is represented on social media and beyond.

GAMUCHIRAI

A Zimbabwean born, Black British artist and researcher, Gamuchirai has Spinal Muscular Atrophy-type 2, and so, her life’s work mainly centres around existentialism and her disabled lived experience, regarding disability as a profoundly enigmatic yet universalising phenomena.

“Gamuchirai loosely translates to ‘embrace’ or ‘embrace God’s gift.’ I found it fitting to self-title the studio because of my obsession with Albert Camus’ philosophy: embracing the absurdity of life. Given my experiences as a marginalised person, this irony resonates deeply. Our slogan, ‘Making it matter,’ reflects what Gamu Studios is about: embracing life’s absurdity and transforming it into meaning. We take something as intangible as existential pain and turn it into (beautiful) matter.”

Remember to make it matter.
